 Welcome to THECHO!R website – for Melbourne’s largest unauditioned Choir! 

Now into our 2nd sensational year of singing, we can’t wait to start rehearsals for our third term of 2010 on Wednesday July 7th between 7 and 10pm at Brenan Hall, St Vincent’s Hospital, Victoria Parade (closest entrance to Nicholson Street).

We have an exciting new repertoire and many performance opportunities including our upcoming Best of British Choral Proms to be held at Melbourne Town Hall on September 11th, 2010!

For those thinking of joining us, we will be accepting new members in Term Three.  Please contact us for a Membership Application and information on our “come and try” sessions from Wednesday July 7th, 2010 – we hope to see you at a rehearsal or performance very soon!

WELCOME TO THECHO!R.

Created by Dr. Jonathon Welch AM (www.jonathonwelch.com), best known as the Founding Music Director of the inspirational Choir of Hard Knocks, Sydney Street Choir,  Australian Pop Choir and Pop Kidz,  THECHO!R is one of Melbourne’s newest and most exciting non-professional adult choirs. THECHO!R.is open to all interested singers – either experienced or budding over 18 years of age. It is privately funded and auspiced by Australian Pop Choir Pty Ltd trading as THECHO!R.

Our purpose is to:

• promote excellence in music -making in rehearsal and performance for singers;
• provide the opportunity to share knowledge and interact socially with those who have common interests and goals;
• to help raise funds for various charities through concerts and performances

Incorporating innovative choral arrangements covering an eclectic range of musical styles from popular and classical music to world music and musical theatre , fused together with fun movement and ‘choralography’, we will provide outstanding tuition, workshops and performance opportunities.

Rehearsals will be held at Brenan Hall, St Vincent’s Hospital, cnr of Nicholson St and Victoria Pde Fitzroy on a weekly basis every WEDNESDAY night during the school term and will be conducted under the direction of Dr. Jonathon Welch as Artistic Director and Principal Conductor and Adam Przewlocki as Assistant Music Director, Accompanist and Conductor.

THECHO!R. is a member of ANCA and is covered for rehearsals and performances by Public Liability Insurance and Volunteer Workers Insurance.
